London 2012 Summer Olympics Games.

The thirtieth Summer Olympic Games were held in London, the capital of Great Britain, from July 27 to August 12, 2012. London became the first city to host the Games for the 3rd time (before that they were held there in 1908 and 1948). In total, more than 10 thousand athletes from 204 countries took part in the competition.

Mascots.
The mascots of the London 2012 Olympic Games were Wenlock and Mandeville. They are named after the town of Much Wenlock, where the first competitions like the Olympic Games were held, and Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where the first competitions like the Paralympic Games were held in the UK.

Emblem.
The image consists of four parts in the form of irregular polygons, which symbolize the numbers of the Olympic year — "2", "0", "1", "2". The word "London" is included in one of the parts, and the image of the Olympic rings is included in the other. The emblem is available in four color options: blue, green, orange and yellow.

Anthem.
The official anthem of the London Olympics was the song Survival by Muse. The song was performed during the opening of the Olympics, as well as at all the awards ceremonies of athletes. The song became the main theme for international television screensavers - the Olympic Games

Competitions.
In total, competitions were held in 26 sports and 39 sports disciplines, including cycling, aquatics, gymnastics, Equestrian sports, judo, Basketball, volleyball, rowing, fencing, weightlifting and others.
There have been some changes in the program compared to previous games. The IOC Executive Committee allowed women to participate in boxing competitions for the first time. They competed in three weight categories (up to 51, 60 and 75 kg) with 12 athletes each, while one men's weight category was eliminated. For the first time, women were able to compete in all summer sports.

Central zone
Includes:
Wembley, Hyde Park, Regent's Park, Earls Court.
Competitions in: football, badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, archery, beach volleyball, triathlon, open water swimming and volleyball.

Football, kayaking and canoeing competitions were held outside London.
Cities: Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Coventry.

Medal standings.
The winners were the United States of America with 46 gold medals, 29 silver and bronze medals.
China is in second place with 38 gold medals, 27 silver and 23 bronze.
The third place was taken by the United Kingdom. Having received 29 gold medals, 17 silver and 19 bronze.
Russia took the 4th place in the medal standings in terms of the number of gold medals.
