SOCIAL ETIQUETTE IN THE UK

It`s a fact that every country has its own social etiquette. People should know local customs and rules of polite behavior. And it doesn`t matter if you live in this country or just visit it as a tourist.
WHAT IS SOCIAL ETIQUETTE?
• Is it customs & rules
for polite behavior? or
• Is it customs or beliefs which have existed for a long time?
to respect – уважать
to kiss on the cheek – целовать в щёку
to give smb a hug – обнимать
affectionate – нежный, ласковый
offended – обиженный
small talk – светская беседа
marital status – семейное положение
acceptable – приемлемый, допустимый
hosts - хозяева
It is only when you greet close friends or relatives that you would kiss them on the cheek or give them a hug

son сынок, братан
madam (ma-am) мэм
age religion politics marital status
weight how much they earn.

food hobbies weather
When you visit people at home:
be on time
take a gift for your hosts (bottle of wine, a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates)
phone before you visit someone
Match the words to their definitions
1. respect a) put your arms around them and hold them tightly;
