THE WAYS OF TRANSLATION ON THE

EXAMPLE OF M.KARIM'S POETRY

The relevance of the chosen topic is determined by two points: firstly, it is due to the current state of translation studies and highlighting the problem of translation of poetic and prose texts. Secondly, the work presents all the ways of translation of poetry on the example of the works of Bashkir national poet Mustai Karim.

Object of the theme: M.Karim's poems in Bashkir, Russian and English.

Subject of the theme: the ways of translation of M.Karim's poems into English.

The aim is to find out what ways were used to translate the poems.

Poetic translation is a special kind of literary translation. These questions are already devoted to many works, among them the work of the leading figures of translation - S. Marshak, K. Chukovsky, M. Lozinsky, M. Tsvetaeva, I. Franko.

Our work is based on the analysis of M.Karim's poems. He is one of the most famous celebrities in Bashkortostan, an outstanding modern Bashkir poet, playwright, publicist, and public figure.

Translation transformations

Translation transformations are complete changes of the appearance of a translated word, phrase, or sentence. In foreign translation theory, transformations are known as shifts of translation. Translation transformations can be of three categories:
1) grammatical transformations;
2) lexical (semantic) transformations;
3) complex (lexical and grammatical) transformations.

This poem is about the native land, Bashkiria. And in translation the transformation method is used:
- Ер шарының картаһына Ҡараһаң яҡшы ғына... - Look at the globe..; (Word order change)
- Ә ҡайыны бөйөк Рәсәй, Шундай йәшел, юғары... - And the birch, the great Russia, Stands so green and tall. (Sentence integration);
- And there is also a method of transliteration: Башҡортостан – Bashkiria.

There is one more poem. And what we have:
- Күтәрелдем бейек түбәләргә, - I climbed the top of the mountains, (here is the change of sentence, because in English there is an order of sentence, and there must be a subject, a predicate);
- Сәләм бирҙе миңә шаңдауҙар – Echo greeted me, it was loud. (transformation on the sentence level.)
- Диңгеҙ кистем - I explored deep seas… (the Bashkir ending «ем» shows us that an author himself does that action, but in English there isn’t such an ending, so the translator used the sentence transformation according to the rules of the English language).
