First aid for bleeding.

Types of bleeding
There are three types of bleeding:

Venous bleeding;
Arterial bleeding;
Capillary bleeding.

Symptoms

First aid for arterial bleeding
In order to stop the bleeding you must:
- Raise the injured part of the body up;

- Clamp bleeding vessel above the bleeding site;

- Impose a pressure bandage;

- Impose a tourniquet.

How to impose a tourniquet:
- Raise the injured limb up;
- Stretch the tourniquet and wrap it around the limb;
- The ends of the tourniquet must be fixed or tied.

Rules of imposing a tourniquet:
- Tourniquet is applied only in case of damage of large arteries;
- Tourniquet can be applied only for a short time: 30 minutes in winter, 1 hour in summer;
- Put a note under the elastic band with indicated time the tourniquet was applied.
- when used properly tourniquets can help control bleeding and save lives.

The correct application of the tourniquet results in complete cessation of bleeding and absence of any below the tourniquet.

After applying the tourniquet you must call an ambulance to deliver the injured person to the hospital.
